Before taking office, Eddie served 33 years as Fire Chief of the Decatur Fire Department, 30 years as a Juvenile Probation Officer and Juvenile Services Director for Southeast Tennessee, and 18 years as an Emergency Medical Technician with the Meigs County Ambulance Service. He also served as Decatur's Codes and Zoning Enforcement Administrator. In 2022, he became the first Meigs County Mayor to earn the Certified Public Administrator designation through the University of Tennessee while in office.
